LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the fifth consecutive year, the Washington College volleyball program has qualified for the American Volleyball Coaches Association's (AVCA) Team Academic Award.
The Shorewomen were one of a record 822 teams to earn the award for the 2016-17 academic year. The award "honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale," as mentioned in a press release from the AVCA.
Washington was one of 150 Division III programs to receive the award as 2016-17 marked the 25th year of the award.
The Shorewomen will open their 2017 season September 1st and 2nd at the DeSales Invitational.
