Shorewomen Take Care of Business Against Red Devils In Four Sets

Lee Tallies Double-Double With 11 Kills and 15 Digs

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Senior outside hitter Kristin Lee (Dayton, Md./River Hill) notched 11th double-double of the season with a match-high 11 kills, and 15 digs to go along with three service aces to tie for match-best as host Washington College topped visiting Dickinson, 3-1 (25-10, 24-26, 25-16, 25-19), on Saturday afternoon at the Cain Athletic Center in a Centennial Conference volleyball match.  The Shorewomen improve to 15-7 overall and 3-3 in the Centennial, while the Red Devils drop to 7-14 and 1-6 respectively.

How It Happened
-Washington never trailed in the first set on its way to a 15-point win.  The Shorewomen took an 8-2 lead which led to a timeout by the Red Devils.  A kill by Kaitlyn Marino ended the set.  For Marino it was her fourth straight set that she ended with a kill as she had all three set-clinching points on kills at Arcadia on Thursday.
-Trailing 23-20 in the second set, Dickinson outscored the hosts, 6-1, to level the match at a set apiece.  Down 24-23, Kelly Quinn tied the set at 24-24 on a kill and the Red Devils took the set on a kill by Erin Bongo.
-Leading 15-12 in the third set, the Shorewomen took the next seven points to take control of the third at 22-12 on a Marino finisher.  Lee capped the set will a kill to give WC a 2-1 lead.
-The two teams were knotted at 16-16 in the fourth set when Washington won nine of the final 12 points to win the set and match.  Taylor Horan put Washington ahead for good on a kill at 17-16 and a block error by Dickinson on a Marino attack attempt ended the set and match.

For The Shorewomen (15-7, 3-3 CC)
-Lee (match-high 11 kills, 15 digs and 3 service aces, tied for match-best), Horan (match-best 35 assists and 3 blocks), Marino (10 kills), Audrey Utchen (team-topping 19 digs and 3 service aces to tie for tops in the contest), Sarah Bentley (10 digs), Jess Daunoras (8 blocks to lead all players, 3 aces to tie for match-best and hit a match-best .450), Alaina Geissberger (5 blocks).
-Team served up 12 aces and hit .177 in the win.  Squad hit .346 in the third set and .333 in the opening set.

For Dickinson (7-14, 1-6 CC)
-Arielle Misrok (25 digs to lead all participants), Emily Smith (double-double of 10 kills, team-high, and 10 digs), Hannah Smith (17 assists and team-best 2 aces), Lauren Beecher and Norma Jean Park (3 blocks).
-Team hit .065 in the match and had five aces.

Notes
-Washington has won the past three against Dickinson and four of the last five.  It is the team's longest winning streak over the Red Devils since winning eight straight from 1991-98.
-Lee totaled her 49th career double-double in the victory.  She has seven double-doubles in her past nine matches.
