Beresik, Daunoras and Lee Named Captains for Shorewomen Volleyball

All Three Serving as Captains for the First Time

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Washington College volleyball head coach Jamie Leventry has named three captains for the 2014 season.  The trio of senior middle hitter Sarah Beresik (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Beach) and juniors, middle hitter Jess Daunoras (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) and outside hitter Kristin Lee (Dayton, Md./River Hill) will serve as captains for the Shorewomen this year.  All three are serving as captains for the first time.

Beresik has recorded 35 kills and 11 blocks so far this year.  She entered her senior season with 234 all-time kills and 110 career blocks.  Twice in her career, she has finished second on the team in blocks per set.  In 2011 she had 0.50 blocks per set and last season she had 0.43 blocks per set.  As a sophomore in 2012 she had a career-best 50 digs.  She was named the Team's Most Improved Player in both 2011 and 2013.

Daunoras has tallied 85 kills and a team-best 34 blocks in 2014.  The junior notched 368 kills and 168 blocks in her first two years at Washington.  She was tops of the team and second in the Centennial Conference in blocks per set at 1.01 in 2013.  She also hit .290 as a sophomore, which was good for tops on the team and fifth in the conference.  She was third on the team in kills per set (1.98) and aces per set (0.38) a season ago.

Lee has amassed team-highs of 144 kills and 25 aces so far this season and is second on the squad in digs with 125.  The junior entered her third season with the team having totaled 638 digs and 615 kills in her first two seasons with the squad.  She led team and placed fourth in the conference in kills per set (3.55) in 2013 and was tops on the squad and fifth in the CC in aces per set (0.45) and points per set (4.15).  She was second on the team in digs at 3.44 per set.  She is a two-time All-Centennial Conference second team honoree and was the 2013 Team's Most Valuable Player.

Washington (10-3) travels to Gettysburg tomorrow afternoon for a tri-match.  The Shorewomen play host Gettysburg in a Centennial Conference match at 1:00 p.m. and take on Kean in a non-conference contest at 3:00 p.m.
