CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College got a match-best 17 digs from freshman defensive specialist Audrey Utchen (San Ramon, Calif./Monte Vista) and a career-best and match-topping seven blocks from sophomore middle hitter Jess Daunoras (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) to record a 3-1 (25-17, 25-16, 20-25, 25-21) victory over visiting Marymount on Wednesday night in a non-conference volleyball match at the Cain Athletic Center in the home opener for the team.  The Shorewomen improve to 5-2 on the year, while the Saints drop to 3-4.

In the first set, the Shorewomen led 8-4 before going on a 12-5 run to take a 20-9 lead on a service ace by sophomore outside hitter Kristin Lee (Dayton, Md./River Hill).  A kill by Lee clinched the first set for Washington.

In the fourth set, Washington scored the first 11 points of the set and led 23-12 before Marymount went on a 9-1 run to cut the lead to 24-21 on a kill by McAlpin.  However, an attack error by the Saints ended the set and the match and the Shorewomen got the four-set win.
