Shorewomen Sweep Both Chargers and Aggies In Tri-Match

Daunoras Sets Career-High With Six Aces Versus Lancaster Bible

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Washington College volleyball traveled to Delaware Valley and swept a pair of matches on Wednesday night in non-conference volleyball action on at James Work Gym.  The Shorewomen swept both Lancaster Bible, 3-0, (25-11, 25-14, 25-12) and Delaware Valley, 3-0, (25-20, 25-11, 25-16) to improve to 4-2 overall on the season.

Against Lancaster Bible (8-5), the Shorewomen got match-bests of 10 kills, six aces, which was also a career-high, and five blocks from sophomore middle hitter Jess Daunoras (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) and the team hit .253 in the three-set win.  Freshman outside hitter Alexis Jordan (Royal Palm Bay, Fla./Seminole Ridge) had 12 digs to lead the team and freshman outside hitter Rachel Baker (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) had 10 digs in her hometown.  Senior setter Lauren White (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) passed out 26 assists to lead all players.  The Shorewomen served up a season-high 11 aces in the victory.

For the Chargers, Rachel Olson had 14 digs to lead all players, while Hannah Metzler recorded 13 digs.

Versus Delaware Valley (2-2), sophomore outside hitter Kristin Lee (Dayton, Md./River Hill) pounded down a match-best 12 kills and led all players with 15 digs, while freshman outside hitter Caitlin Cooney (Gaithersburg, Md./Covenant Life School) drilled 11 kills.  Cooney hit .588 to lead all players, while Lee hit .312 as the team hit .327 in the win.  Lee now has 14 career double-doubles.  Baker had 14 digs, freshman defensive special specialist Audrey Utchen (San Ramon, Calif./Monte Vista) had 13 digs and Jordan notched 10 digs.  White led all players with 38 assists, while Daunoras tied for match-high with four blocks. 

The Aggies got four blocks from Janel Gluch to tie for tops in the contest and Crystal Roman had 26 assists to lead the hosts.  Gluch had three solo blocks to lead all players.

The Shorewomen will open up their home slate a week from today versus Marymount at 7:00 p.m. in a non-conference match.
