The Shorewomen swept Albright in their second contest of the day, 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-22), after falling to host Franklin & Marshall in a Centennial Conference match, 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-22) in the first match of the day.

    Host Washington College won its first match in nine years after losing the first two sets as the Shorewomen downed visiting Catholic, 3-2 (17-25, 19-25, 25-23, 26-24, 15-8) on Tuesday night at the Cain Athletic Center in a non-conference volleyball match. Washington is now 16-6 overall, while the Cardinals drop to 14-12. The Shorewomen are now 10 matches over .500 for the first time since the 1989 finale when the team finished 24-14.

    Host Washington College, down to six players, won the final two sets after being down 2-1 to record a 3-2 (22-25, 25-15, 22-25, 25-20, 15-10) victory over visiting Dickinson on Saturday afternoon at the Cain Athletic Center in Centennial Conference volleyball action. The Shorewomen improve to 15-6 overall and 4-2 in the conference, while the Red Devils drop to 5-14 overall and 0-6 respectively.

The Shorewomen are now 14-6 on the season and 3-2 in conference play, while the Owls are now 10-7 and 1-4 respectively.

The Shorewomen (13-6, 2-2 Centennial Conference) opened the day by falling to the host Mules in a Centennial Conference match, 26-24, 25-20, 19-25, 25-23. Washington bounced back with a 25-18, 25-23, 25-20, non-conference win over Hood.

    Visiting Washington College scored the last three points of the third set to turn a 24-23 deficit into a 26-24 set win and lifted the Shorewomen to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 26-24) sweep of host Swarthmore at Tarble Pavilion in Centennial Conference volleyball action on Tuesday night. Washington is now 12-5 on the year and 2-1 in the Centennial Conference, while the Garnet drop to 11-5 and 1-2 respectively.

    Perseverance was the theme of the day for the Washington College volleyball team Friday as the Shorewomen posted a pair of five-set wins on day one of the Goucher College Invitational. In both matches, Washington won the first two sets before dropping the next two only to bounce back and win the fifth set. The Shorewomen (9-5) opened the tournament with a 25-23, 25-23, 25-27, 23-25, 15-7, five-set win over Lebanon Valley. They then defeated Kean, 27-25, 25-13, 23-25, 19-25, 15-10.

The Blue Jays improve to 5-4 overall and 1-0 in the Centennial with the win, while the Shorewomen drop to 6-4 and 0-1 respectively.

  • Volleyball Season Preview

    n 2012, the Washington College volleyball team had its most successful Centennial Conference campaign in 18 years in winning four matches and downed Gettysburg for the first time since 1977. With six players returning along with four newcomers joining the squad, the 2013 version of Shorewomen volleyball will seek to for the first time to reach the Centennial Conference Tournament under the guidance of first-year head coach Jamie Leventry, who was promoted from associate head coach in the spring.
