Garnet Down Shorewomen In Three Sets

Rivera With 10 Digs To Lead Washington

CHESTERTOWN, MD – Visiting Swarthmore College got a double-double from Allison Coleman, as she match-highs 31 assists and 11 digs as the Garnet topped host Washington College in Centennial Conference volleyball action, 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-13), on Wednesday night at the Cain Athletic Center.  Swarthmore is now 14-5 overall and 2-2 in Centennial play, while Washington is now 9-8 and 0-4 respectively.

For the Garnet, Lisa Shang had five service aces to lead all players as Swarthmore served up 12 aces in the victory.  Coleman added three service aces for the guests.  Zahra Ahmed had a match-topping nine kills and hit .571 in the victory.  The Garnet hit .329 as a team, including .407 in the third and final set.  Genny Pezzola had seven kills and Danielle Sullivan added six kills.

For the Shorewomen, junior defensive specialist Rita Rivera (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth-Whitemarsh) had 10 digs to lead Washington.  Sophomore setter Lauren White (Huntingtown, MD/Huntingtown) led the hosts with 13 assists and five kills.

The Shorewomen return to action on Friday at 5:00 p.m. against visiting Muhlenberg at the Cain Athletic Center in Centennial Conference volleyball action.
