White Wins at Both No. 1 Singles and No. 1 Doubles for Shorewomen

CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Division I Delaware State spoiled the dual match opener for the host Washington College women's tennis team this afternoon, topping the Shorewomen, 7-2, inside the Johnson Fitness Center. 

Delaware State 7, Washington College 2

- Yelzaveta Bessonova and Alina Polyvana put Delaware State on the board with an 8-2 win at No. 3 against Mariah Thomas and Hayley Sanchez.
- Cassandra Boltman and Aayushi Chouhan followed with an 8-4 victory over Cecilia Cress and Sarah Bruno at No. 2.
- The Shorewomen's first point of the match came at No. 1 where Alisha White and Ella Samer pulled out an 8-7(4) victory over Sofia Rachi and Anastasia Belkina

- Belkina topped Samer, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 2 and Boltman bested Cress, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 3 to extend the Hornets' lead to 4-1.
- Polyvana clinched the victory for Delaware State when she finished her 6-1, 6-3, victory over Bruno at No. 4.
- White picked up the Shorewomen's second point of the match with a 7-5, 2-6, 10-8 win against Rachi at No. 1.
- Delaware State closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-1, win by Chounan over Thomas at No. 5 and a 6-0, 6-0, win by Bessonova over Sanchez at No. 6.

- The Hornets improved to 3-3 in dual matches this season with the win.
