LANCASTER, Pa. -- Washington College junior April Weaver (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg) has been named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week for women's tennis for the week ending April 19th.
Weaver went 3-0 at No. 1 singles and teamed with classmate Marielle McIntyre (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) to go 3-0 at No. 1 doubles in a 3-0 week for the Shorewomen, who clinched a spot in the upcoming Centennial Conference Tournament in the process. Weaver won in singles against Haverford in straight sets, won the first set and led the second when here opponent from Muhlenberg had to retire, and rallied from a first-set loss to win against Gettysburg. In doubles, Weaver and McIntyre outscored their opponents, 24-5, on the week.
This marks the second time this season and fourth time in her collegiate career that Weaver has been named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week.
