Maxwell Wins Three Individual Events for Shorewomen
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Washington College women's swim team placed first in 10 of 11 events and improved to 5-2 on the season with a 140-65 non-conference win at host Elizabethtown College today. The Blue Jays fell to 4-6 with the loss.
Freshman Ellen Maxwell (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) won three individual events for the second straight meet. She captured the 1000 freestyle in 11:27.76, the 200 individual medley in 2:21.45, and the 500 freestyle in 5:36.53. Senior Ellie Miskiel (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) added first-place finishes in the 100 freestyle (57.10) and the 100 breaststroke (1:11.59).
Freshman Jacquelyn Creitz (Schencksville, Pa./Parkland) won the 100 backstroke in 1:06.42, senior Carly Ogren (Burke, Va./Lake Braddock) placed first in the 200 freestyle in 2:04.45, and freshman Angelina Tomasura (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South) won the 100 butterfly in 1:04.88.
Washington also captured both relay events. Creitz, Miskiel, Tomasura, and Ogren won the 200 medley relay in 1:59.37, while Tomasura, junior Alicia Howard (Wilmington, Del./Charter School of Wilmington), freshman Megan Obarowski (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South), and Ogren won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:48.55.
Howard added second-place finishes in the 50 freestyle and in the 100 backstroke in 27.08 and 1:06.54, respectively. Sophomore Julianna Fritzinger (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion Area) finished second in the 200 individual medley in 2:23.86 and in the 500 freestyle in 5:39.10.
The Shorewomen return to action one week from today with a 2:00 p.m. Centennial Conference meet against Dickinson.
