Shorewomen Push Past Pride, 121-84

Maxwell Wins Three Individual Events for Shorewomen

CHESTER, Pa. -- Freshman Ellen Maxwell (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) won three individual events as the visiting Washington College women's swim team posted a 121-84 win over host Widener University this evening in Chester, Pa. The Shorewomen improved to 4-2 with the win, while the Pride fell to 3-7 with the loss.

Maxwell won the 1000 freestyle in 11:16.76, the 500 freestyle in 5:34.03, and the 200 individual medley in 2:18.45. Senior Carly Ogren (Burke, Va./Lake Braddock) accounted for two individual first-place finishes, winning the 200 freestyle in 2:02.92 and the 100 freestyle in 56.76. 

Senior Ellie Miskiel (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) was a winner in the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.70 and was second in the 50 freestyle in 26.04. Freshman Angelina Tomasura (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South) won the 100 butterfly in 1:03.69 and led off the winning 200 freestyle relay. Tomasura was joined by freshman Megan Obarowski (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South), freshman Jacquelyn Creitz (Schencksville, Pa./Parkland), and junior Alicia Howard (Wilmington, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) to post a winning time of 1:48.72 in that event.

Sophomore Julianna Fritzinger (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion Area) finished behind only Maxwell in the distance events, placing second in the 1000 freestyle in 11:33.07 and in the 500 freestyle in 5:37.36. Obarowski added a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly in 1:06.03, while Howard took second in the 100 backstroke in 1:04.81.

The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. non-conference meet at Elizabethtown.
