Howard, Maxwell, Miskiel Win Two Individual Events Each
BRYN MAWR, Pa. -- The visiting Washington College women's swim team won 10 of 11 events en route to a 136-66 Centennial Conference victory over host Bryn Mawr this afternoon. The Shorewomen improved to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in conference meets with the win, while the Owls fell to 0-3 and 0-3.
Junior Alicia Howard (Wilmington, Del./Charter School of Wilmington), freshman Ellen Maxwell (Towson, Md./Loch Raven), and senior Ellie Miskiel (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) each won two individual events for the Shorewomen. Howard captured the 50 freestyle in 26.35 and the 100 backstroke in 1:03.92. Maxwell was first in the 1000 freestyle in 11:28.50 and in the 100 freestyle in 57.28, while Miskiel won the 200 individual medley in 2:20.58 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.23.
Washington opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay as Maxwell, Miskiel, freshman Angelina Tomasura (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South), and Howard finished in 1:58.66.
Senior Carly Ogren (Burke, Va./Lake Braddock), sophomore Julianna Fritzinger (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion Area), and Tomasura each won one individual event. Ogren won the 200 freestyle in 2:04.47, Fritzinger won the 500 freestyle in 5:38.78, and Tomasura was first in the 100 butterfly in 1:04.34. Fritzinger was also second in the 200 freestyle in 2:09.31, while Tomasura placed second in the 200 individual medley in 2:20.58. Freshman Megan Obarowski (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) added a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly in 1:06.66.
The Shorewomen return to action one week from today with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home meet against Franklin & Marshall.
