CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- Seniors Ellie Miskiel (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) and Carly Ogren (Burke, Va./Lake Braddock) will serve as captains of the Washington College women's swimming team for the 2013-14 season.
Miskiel is serving as a team captain for the second year in a row. She is the Shorewomen's second-fastest swimmer ever in the 200 breaststroke, third-fastest ever in the 100 breaststroke, seventh-fastest ever in the 50 freestyle, and eighth-fastest ever in the 100 freestyle. She won a gold medal and All-Centennial Conference first-team honors in the 200 breaststroke and won bronze in the 100 breaststroke at the 2013 Centennial Conference Championships. She is a two-time Team Most Valuable Swimmer and was the co-female winner of the College's Elizabeth "Bo" Blanchard Memorial Sportsmanship Award for 2013.
Ogren is a member of the school record-holding 200 freestyle and 400 medley relay teams. She is the Shorewomen's sixth-fastest swimmer ever in the 100 freestyle and eighth-fastest swimmer ever in the 200 freestyle. She won gold and All-Centennial Conference first-team honors in the 400 medley relay and silver and all-conference honorable mention in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays at the 2011 Centennial Conference Championships. She also earned a spot on the 2013 Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll.
The Shorewomen will open their dual meet schedule November 2nd at Gettysburg College.
