Shorewomen Beat Salisbury for 25th Straight Time, 117-88

Miskiel, Sykes Win Two Individual Events Each

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Sophomore Elizabeth Miskiel (Gaithersburg, MD/Quince Orchard) and junior Sarah Sykes (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley-Demarest) each won two individual events to lead host Washington College to its 25th consecutive victory, 117-88, over Eastern Shore rival Salisbury University in non-conference women's swimming action tonight inside Casey Swim Center.  The Shorewomen improved to 2-1 with the win, while the Sea Gulls fell to 1-2 with the loss.

Sykes won the 1000 freestyle in 11:38.03 and the 500 freestyle in 5:40.59, while Miskiel captured first place in the 200 freestyle in 2:03.41 and the 100 freestyle in 56.49.  Sophomore Hilary Badger (Baltimore, MD/Mount de Sales) added a first-place finish in the 50 freestyle in 25.50, while freshman Alicia Howard (Wilmington, DE/Charter School of Wilmington) won the 200 individual medley in 2:25.24 and senior Morgan Phillips (Charlottesville, VA/Albemarle) won the 100 backstroke in 1:05.46.

Washington also won both relay events. Phillips, Miskiel, senior Ellen Liebenow (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge), and Badger won the 200 medley relay in 1:56.54. Sykes, Howard, senior Mary Stroman (Bala Cynwyd, PA/Friends Central), and Badger won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:46.43.

Freshman Ashley Maurizi (Reamstown, PA/Cocalico) placed second in both distance events, finishing the 1000 freestyle in 11:43.97 and the 500 freestyle in 5:43.01.

The Shorewomen return to action Friday with a 3:30 p.m. non-conference home meet against St. Mary's College of Maryland.
