CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College women's swim team defeated Elizabethtown College, 111-89, in a non-conference meet this afternoon inside Casey Swim Center.
The Shorewomen (4-3) won eight of the first nine events before entering the final two events as exhibition entrants only. Senior Rachel Glasser (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook) won the 200 individual medley in 2:17.55 and the 500 freestyle in 5:31.34. Junior Jenna Moore (Catonsville, MD/Mount de Sales) was first in the 100 freestyle in 57.45 and recorded the fast time, as an exhibition entrant, in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.21). Freshman Hilary Badger (Baltimore, MD/Mount de Sales) won the 100 backstroke (1:06.09), freshman Samantha Gross (Pottstown, PA/Pottsgrove) won the 100 butterfly (1:07.31), junior Morgan Phillips (Charlottesville, VA/Albemarle) won the 50 freestyle (27.25), and freshman Carly Ogren (Burke, VA/Lake Braddock) won the 200 freestyle (2:07.18).
Badger, Moore, sophomore Alix Batesko (Mountain Lakes, NJ/Mountain Lakes), and junior Mary Stroman (Bala Cynwyd, PA/Friends Central) won the 200 medley relay in 1:58.94. Glasser, Stroman, Ogren, and Badger had the fastest time of 1:46.41 in the 200 freestyle relay as an exhibition.
Stroman added a second-place finish in the 50 freestyle (27.40), Batesko was second in the 100 butterfly (1:08.45), Ogren was second in the 100 freestyle (58.32), Phillips was second in the 100 backstroke (1:10.07), and sophomore Sarah Sykes (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley-Demarest) placed second in the 200 individual medley (2:31.76).
The Shorewomen return to action one week from today with a 2:00 p.m. Centennial Conference meet at Dickinson.
