Diplomats Too Much For Shorewomen, 116-88

Miskiel Joins WC Top 10 In 100 Free and Glasser Wins Three Events

LANCASTER, PA – Visiting Washington College had the top finisher in seven of 11 events, but it was not enough as host Franklin & Marshall prevailed by a 116-88 score at the Kunkel Aquatic Center in Centennial Conference women's swimming action.  The Diplomats improve to 3-2 overall and 3-0 in the conference, while the Shorewomen fall to 3-2 and 1-2 respectively.

Washington won both relays in the meet.  The 200 medley relay team of freshman Hilary Badger (Baltimore, MD/Mount de Sales), junior Jenna Moore (Catonsville, MD/Mount de Sales), sophomore Alix Batesko (Mountain Lakes, NJ/Mountain Lakes) and freshman Elizabeth Miskiel (Gaithersburg, MD/Quince Orchard) won the event with a time of 1:54.63.  In the other relay, the 200 freestyle relay, the squad of Miskiel, junior Ellen Liebenow (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge), sophomore Sarah Sykes (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley-Demarest) and Badger took the event with a time of 1:43.81, a season-best for WC.

Senior Rachel Glasser (Silver Spring, MD/Silverbrook) won three events on the evening as she took first place in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:57.59, the 100 butterfly in 1:00.85 and the 500 freestyle with a WC season-best time of 5:09.92.

Moore won the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke as she recorded a season-best times of 25.01 and 1:08.61 respectively.

The Shorewomen had one second place finish, but it was good enough for a WC all-time top ten spot in the 100 freestyle.  Miskiel had a time of 55.75 which was good enough for ninth all-time in the history of Shorewomen swimming in the 100 freestyle.

Washington returns to action on December 4-5 at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational.
