Docktor and Schutz Selected as Shorewomen Lacrosse Captains

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Washington College women's lacrosse head coach Kate Fowler has named seniors, attacker Cecily Docktor (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) and defender Madison Schutz (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) as team captains for the 2019 campaign.  Docktor is serving as a captain for the second straight season, while Schutz is serving as a captain of Shorewomen Lacrosse for the first time.

Docktor had her best season in 2018 her way to being named All-Centennial Conference first team and All-Metro Region second team.  Starting in all 18 games last spring, the senior led the Shorewomen in scoring with career-highs of 41 goals, 27 assists and 68 points as she also scooped up 21 ground balls.  She was sixth in the conference in both assists and points last spring.  In 52 career games, all starts, Docktor has 106 goals and 51 helpers for 157 points.  She enters her senior campaign 13th in team history in assists, tied for 13th in goals and 14th in points as she is a two-time all-conference pick as she was selected honorable mention in 2017.

Schutz was selected 2018 All-America third team, named the 2018 Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Year, garnered 2018 All-Metro Region first team and earned All-Centennial Conference first team honors for the second straight year.  In 18 games last spring, all starts, she had 56 ground balls, 43 caused turnovers and 37 draw controls as she led the conference in total caused turnovers and ground balls in conference games (56).  Schutz finished second in the Centennial in total ground balls.  She also chipped in with a goal and assist, both of which came in a 16-11 win at #25 Haverford.  In 53 career contests, all starts, Schutz has 117 ground balls, 84 caused turnovers and 54 draw controls as the senior is seventh in team history in caused turnovers.

The Shorewomen will open up their 2019 season on Wednesday, February 20 when they travel to York (Pa.), a 2018 NCAA Tournament team, at 5:00 p.m.
