Hubley Scores Twice, Dudley Hands Out Two Assists
GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Host #6 Gettysburg got a game-high seven goals from Mandy Buell on its way to a 17-4 victory over visiting Washington College at Clark Field in a Centennial Conference women's lacrosse game on Saturday afternoon. The Bullets improve to 12-2 overall and 6-1 in the Centenial, while the Shorewomen drop to 9-4 and 5-2 respectively.
The Bullets broke onto the scoreboard just 1:17 into the first half when Katie Landry scored on a free position goal. Gettysburg scored twice in 15 seconds to take a 3-0 lead. Landry found Bridget Kenny with 27:16 left to make it 2-0 and Maggie Connolly made it a three-goal lead. Senior midfielder Emily Hubley (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) got WC on the board with 24:58 left on a free position tally to trim the lead to 3-1 before Kenny found Landry with 22:11 to go to give the Bullets a 4-1 lead.
The Bullets would score the next eight times to take a 12-1 lead into halftime.
In the second half, the Bullets outscored the Shorewomen 5-3 to provide the final margin.
In addition to Buell, the Bullets got six points on four goals and two assists from Kenny to go along with a game-high three caused turnovers and five points on four goals and a helper from Landry. Connolly posted a pair of goals for the hosts. In goal, Shannon Keeler made five saves.
Hubley had two goals to lead Washington, while sophomore midfielder Alli Dudley (New Windsor, Md./Francis Scott Key) passed out two assists.
Gettysburg held a commanding 33-10 advantage in shots and won 18 of the game's 23 draws as Buell won a game-best six draws, while Kenny won five. The Bullets were for 11-for-12 in clears, while the Shorewomen were only 9-for-17. The Shorewomen turned it over 16 times, while the Bullets only lost it nine times.
Washington concludes its regular season home slate on Wednesday evening with a 7:00 p.m. game versus visiting Swarthmore in Centennial Conference action.
