#1 Diplomats Pull Away from Shorewomen Early in 19-9 Win

Hubley Scores Four Goals in Loss for Shorewomen

CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- Top-ranked Franklin & Marshall jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead and never looked back en route to a 19-9 Centennial Conference women's lacrosse victory over host Washington College this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Diplomats improved to 8-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 4-3 and 0-1 with the loss.

Gabby Frank's third goal of the game, off an assist from Anastasia Mergner, gave F&M its 7-0 lead just 9:17 into the contest. The Diplomats led by at least five goals the rest of the game and took the biggest lead of the game at 19-8 on a Hannah Serling goal off a Ryann Laible assist with 1:32 to go in the contest.

Frank finished the game with six goals and three assists for the Diplomats, while Paige Moriarty added two goals and five assists. Brittney Jorgenson and Emily Everdell each netted three goals, while Grace Saliba had two goals and one assist. Vaness Budd contributed four ground balls, five draw controls, and three caused turnovers for F&M.

Senior midfielder Emily Hubley (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) led the Shorewomen with four goals. Sophomore midfielder Alli Dudley (New Windsor, Md./Francis Scott Key) had two goals and one assist, while sophomore attacker Katherine Vincent (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) had a goal and two assists for Washington.

F&M held a 39-20 advantage in shots in the game and controlled 18 of the game's 30 draws. The Shorewomen struggled with the Diplomats' ride all game, finishing just 9-for-22 on clears.

The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Ursinus.
