Blankenship Tabbed as Conference's Coach of the Year; Cannon Named All-Centennial

LANCASTER, PA -- Washington College head women's lacrosse coach Julika Blankenship has been named the Centennial Conference Coach of the Year in a vote conducted by the conference's head coaches. In addition, Washington senior attacker Sarah Cannon (Baltimore, MD/Notre Dame Prep) has been named to the All-Centennial Conference second team.

Blankenship has guided the Shorewomen to a 10-5 overall record this season, marking their highest win total since 2003.  The Shorewomen, who finished 4-5 in conference play, have also qualified for the Centennial Conference Tournament for the first time since 2003. Washington posted a home record of 7-1 this season. 

Cannon, who is the lone senior on the roster, leads the Shorewomen with 17 assists this season. She is also second in total points with 39 and fifth in goals with 21. Her average of 1.13 assists per game ranks her eighth in the conference, while her average of 2.53 points per game ranked her 15th in the conference.

The Shorewomen will play in the five-team Centennial Conference Tournament's first round game tomorrow night at fourth-seeded Haverford. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
