Shorewomen Depose Monarchs, 19-4

Thirteen Different Players Score for WC in Win

FAYETTEVILLE, NC -- Visiting Washington College jumped out to a 10-3 halftime lead on the way to a 19-4 non-conference women's lacrosse victory over host Methodist University this afternoon. The Shorewomen, who got at least one goal from 13 different players, improved to 1-1 with the win, while the Monarchs fell to 0-5 with the loss.

The Shorewomen outshot the Monarchs, 21-3, in the first half as Methodist scored on all three of its shots in the period. Washington also controlled 13 of the half's 14 draws. Washington added nine more goals on just 10 shots to the Monarchs' one goal on three shots in the second half. The Shorewomen controlled eight of the 11 draws in the second half.

Junior midfielder Sam Ohrem (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield) scored two goals and assisted on another for the Shorewomen, while freshman attacker Corinne Ziccardi (Baltimore, MD/Loch Raven) had a goal and two assists. Sophomore attacker Kalli Parrish (Timonium, MD/McDonogh School), freshman midfielder Mollie Shipley (Denville, NJ/Morris Catholic), senior midfielder Jamie Jones (Glen Arm, MD/Loch Raven), sophomore midfielder Rachel Bartee (Mount Airy, MD/South Carroll), and freshman attacker Britton Preroff (Baltimore, MD/Bryn Mawr) each scored two goals. Senior midfielder Allie Hanzsche (Catonsville, MD/Mount de Sales) and freshman attacker/midfielder Olivia Hanley (Phoenix, MD/Dulaney) each had one goal and one assist. Sophomore attacker Liza Twilley (Salisbury, MD/Salisbury School), junior midfielder Liz Cumberpatch (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis), sophomore defender/midfielder Ann Eickelberg (Amityville, MD/St. John the Baptist), and senior attacker Catherine Habel (Gaithersburg, MD/Watkins Mill) added one goal each. Junior attacker Sarah Cannon (Baltimore, MD/Notre Dame Prep) and freshman midfielder Marissa Restaino (Media, PA/Penncrest) recorded one assist each.

Amber Jukovac scored two goals for Methodist, while Abby Harmon had one goal and one assist and Jasmine Stephens scored one goal.

The Shorewomen return to action Thursday with a 5:00 p.m. game at Virginia Wesleyan.
