Kendall Paces Shorewomen with 17 Points in Loss
HAVERFORD, Pa. -- Host Haverford College got 16 points and seven rebounds off the bench from Sierra Berkel in a 62-45 Centennial Conference women's basketball victory over visiting Washington College tonight.
The Shorewomen (8-14, 4-11 Centennial) held a 15-11 lead with 11 minutes left in the first half before the Fords (13-9, 11-4) finished the half on a 21-7 run to take a 32-22 advantage into the intermission. Haverford led by at least nine points throughout the second half, taking its largest lead on an Elizabeth Lynch three-pointer with 5:13 to go in the game which upped the score to 55-33.
Berkel shot 5-for-5 from the field and 6-for-7 from the free-throw line en route to her 16 points. Shannon Smith added 11 points and nine rebounds for the Fords, while Jacquelyne Pizzuto had eight points and four assists.
Junior forward Carley Kendall (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) paced the Shorewomen with a game-high 17 points. Senior guard Emily Hubley (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) and freshman forward/center Katherine Moore (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) scored nine points each in the loss.
Haverford shot 36% from the field in the win and made 13 of 14 free throws. Washington shot 34% from the field just 5-of-11 from the line. The Fords also enjoyed a 42-33 rebounding advantage in the game.
The Shorewomen will host their Senior Day this Saturday as they welcome Ursinus to Cain Athletic Center for a 2:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game.
