Senior Becomes First Woman in Centennial History with 100 Three-Pointers & 100 Blocks
BRYN MAWR, PA -- Senior guard Sally O'Donnell (Cape May Court House, NJ/Wildwood Catholic) became the first woman in Centennial Conference history with at least 100 career three-pointers and at least 100 career blocks as visiting Washington College rolled to a 70-33 Centennial Conference women's basketball victory over host Bryn Mawr tonight in Bryn Mawr, PA. Sophomore forward Latisha Pledger (Chesapeake, VA/Indian River) pulled down a career-best 17 rebounds in the win for the Shorewomen (10-5, 5-5 Centennial).
Bryn Mawr (0-13, 0-10) scored the game's first basket, but the Shorewomen then ran off 26 unanswered points, capped off by a jumper by sophomore guard Michaila Hatty (Philadelphia, PA/Neumann-Goretti) with 7:23 remaining in the first half. Washington held a 33-13 lead at halftime. The lead grew to as many as 37 points in the second half.
O'Donnell's 100th career block at Washington College came with 15:52 remaining in the second half. She has netted 172 three-pointers as a Shorewoman.
Pledger scored 10 points to go along with her 17 boards, eight of which came on the offensive end. Sophomore forward Liz Warkala (New York, NY/Marymount School of New York) turned in her first career double-double with career highs of 10 points and 10 rebounds, seven of which were on the offensive end. Freshman guard Jackie O'Connell (Northampton, PA/Northampton Area) matched her career high with eight points; junior center Erin Kile (Benton, PA/Benton) scored eight points of her own and brought down 10 rebounds.
Nicolette Parmese led Bryn Mawr with a game-high 16 points and eight rebounds.
The Shorewomen, who have now won eight of their last nine games, return to action Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against McDaniel.
