• 2011-12 Women's Basketball Season Review

    The 2011-12 Washington College women's basketball season brought with it a number of milestones for the Shorewomen. The Shorewomen overcame a slow start to the season to win 14 of their final 19 games to post a 16-9 overall record and an 11-9 mark in Centennial Conference play.
  • Basketball Teams Sweep Annual Centennial Conference Sportsmanship Awards

    The Washington College men's and women's basketball teams have swept the male and female Centennial Conference Sportsmanship Awards. The Shoremen and Shorewomen were chosen among student-athletes and teams across the conference's 12 men's and 12 women's championship sports and will now be placed on the ballot for the NCAA National Sportsmanship Awards this summer.

    Washington College senior guard Meghan Tait has been named to the All-Centennial Conference first team for women's basketball in a vote conducted by the conference's head coaches. Tait is the second Shorewoman to ever be named first-team all-conference, joining Elise Conway in 2008.

    Host Washington College jumped out to a 36-5 halftime lead and rolled to a 73-35 Centennial Conference women's basketball win over visiting Bryn Mawr this afternoon in the season finale for both teams. The Shorewomen finish the season 16-9 overall and 11-9 in conference play, tying the program record for wins in a season and breaking the program record for conference wins in a season.

The Shorewomen improve to 15-9 overall and 10-9 in conference play with the win, while the Bears fall to 13-11 and 12-7 respectively.

    Washington College senior guard Meghan Tait has been named the Centennial Conference's Co-Player of the Week for women's basketball for the week ending February 12. Tait averaged 12 points, 9.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 4.5 steals in a 2-0 week for the Shorewomen.

The win was the Shorewomen's (14-9, 9-9 Centennial) second-ever road win over the Bullets (11-12, 9-9) and their first since 1996.

The Shorewomen improve to 13-9 overall with the win. With the 13 wins, the Shorewomen clinch their first winning season since 1998-99, when the squad went 15-9.

    Alexandra Chili knocked down what would prove to be the game-winning jumper with 41 seconds remaining in the game as 14th-ranked Muhlenberg College rallied from a 17-point second-half deficit to defeat host Washington College, 60-57, in a Centennial Conference women's basketball game this afternoon inside Cain Athletic Center. The Mules improved to 14-2 overall and 9-2 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 11-6 and 6-6 with the loss.
