CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- The Washington College sailing team finished second of six teams in the Tom Noble Team Race, which Washington hosted on the Chester River, this weekend. Ninth-ranked Navy, 10th-ranked St. Mary's, 18th-ranked New York Maritime, and George Washington were the other schools competing at the regatta. St. Mary's was represented by two squads.
The first St. Mary's squad won the regatta with a 9-1 head-to-head race regatta as two full round robins were completed during the weekend. The second St. Mary's squad went 7-3, as did Washington and Washington won a one-race sail-off for second place. Navy was fourth with a 3-7 record. George Washington and New York Maritime each went 2-8. George Washington took fifth place based on a tie-breaker.
Nineteen of the races in the regatta were completed Saturday. The other 11 sailed Sunday after a wind delay.
The Washington College sailing team returns to action next weekend at Georgetown's John Jackson Team Race.
