WC Sailing Closes Out Season with 12th-Place Finish at Admiral's Cup

KINGS POINT, NY -- The Washington College sailing team completed its 2012-13 season Saturday with a 12th-place finish out of 15 teams at the Admiral's Cup, hosted by the United States Merchant Marine Academy. The regatta was scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, but favorable conditions on Saturday allowed for the completion of a full rotation of 15 races in each division in one day.

Sophomore skipper Ryan Bailey (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South) sailed with senior crew Maggie Smith (Annapolis, MD/Garrison Forest), sophomore crew Blair Towers (Goochland, VA/St. Anne's Belfield), and freshman crew Alex Crawford (Annapolis, MD/Severna Park) to finish seventh in A Division for Washington. Bailey racked up six top-five finishes, including two wins. Freshman skipper Eric Siegel (Kilmarnock, VA/Christchurch School) and sophomore crew Eleanor Conroy (West Dennis, MA/Tabor Academy) were 12th in B Division, while senior skipper Sam Bedinger (Richmond, VA/St. Christopher's) finished 12th for Washington in the single-handed C Division.

Second-ranked Stanford won the Admiral's Cup, followed by sixth-ranked Yale in second and 10th-ranked St. Mary's in third.
