Potter & Searles Win Varsity Pair at MARC Championships

Three Shoremen Named All-MARC, Three Named Academic All-MARC

LEWISBERRY, Pa. — Junior Lee Potter (Kensington, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) and freshman Grayson Searles (Richmond, Va./Douglas S. Freeman) won the men's pair to lead the Washington College men's rowing team at a thunderstorm-shortened Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) Championships today on Pinchot Lake in Lewisberry, Pa. The MARC All-Conference award winners were announced following the regatta. In addition, three Shoremen were named All-MARC and three were named Academic All-MARC during a post-regatta awards ceremony.

How It Happened
- Potter and Searles won the men's pair in 7:46.70. Loyola was second in 8:02.16, Susquehanna 3rd in 8:15.13, and Stony Brook fourth in 8:18.00
- The Shoremen's varsity were third in their heat in 6:54.00, but the grand final was canceled due to thunderstorms. Marietta won the heat in 6:33.30, George Mason was second in 6:39.90, Mary Washington fourth in 7:09.40, and The College of New Jersey fifth in 7:33.10.
- The Shoremen's varsity four was fourth in its heat in 8:02.60. Lafayette "C" won the heat in 7:23.20, Franklin & Marshall was second in 7:31.10, Maryland "A" third in 7:43.30, and Haverford fifth in 8:07.40.

MARC Award Winners
- Eggstein and Yimer were named to the All-MARC Varsity Team, while Snyder was named to the All-MARC Novice Team.
- Kincaid, Potter, and Ramasamy qualified for the Academic All-MARC Team. To qualify, student-athletes must a) have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5, b) be in their second, third, or fourth year of eligibility, AND c) must have competed in 75% of the varsity competitions or competed in the MARC Championships.
