Shoremen Open Fall Regatta Schedule at Occoquan Chase

LORTON, VA -- The Washington College men's rowing team opened its fall regatta schedule with three boats in the open men's four and two in the open men's eight at the 5,000-meter course Occoquan Chase today in Lorton, VA. 

The Shoremen's "A" boat in the open men's four was fourth of 11 boats in 18:25.23. The "B" boat was 10th in 19:50.74, while the "C" boat was 11th in 20:22.79. George Mason University Alumni won the event in 17:47.14, George Washington University was second in 18:01.45, and Potomac Boat Club was third in 18:10.89.

Senior Jeff Nutting (Catonsville, MD/Mount St. Joseph) was the coxswain of the Shoremen's "A" boat in the open four. Junior Anthony Cairo (Port Murray, NJ/Warren Hills) sat stroke, junior Conor Howlett (Tampa, FL/H.B. Plant) was in the three seat, senior Parker McIntosh (Berlin, MD/Worcester Prep) sat in the teo seat, and freshman Ryan Miranda (Farmington, CT/Farmington) was the bow.

Junior Chris Moylan (Silver Spring, MD/DeMatha) was the coxswain of the Shoremen's "B" boat in the open four. Junior Rob Billings (Easton, MD/Easton) sat stroke, sophomore Jack Christ (Hydes, MD/Jemicy Upper School) sat in the three seat, junior Max Villa (Great Meadows, NJ/Pope John XXIII) was in the two seat, and freshman Joseph Stevens (Blandford, MA/The Gunnery [CT]) was the bow. 

Junior Rebecca Wozniak (Mt. Airy, MD/South Carroll) was the coxswain of the Shoremen's "C" boat in the open four. Sophomore Ben Sproule (Princeton, NJ/Princeton) sat stroke, freshman Tim Johnson (Darien, CT/Salisbury School) was in the three seat, sophomore Andrew Wallhauser (Fair Haven, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven) sat in the two seat, and junior Dominic DiMarino (Wilmington, DE/Concord) was the bow.   

The Shoremen's "A" boat in the open men's eight was sixth of 14 boats in 16:55.08, while their "B" boat was 12th in 19:03.54. Florida Institute of Technology was first in 15:34.42. George Washington's "A" boat took second in 16:03.99 and its "B" boat was third in 16:28.43.

Freshman John Gould (Litchfield, CT/The Gunnery) served as coxswain of the Shoremen's "A" boat in the open eight. Cairo sat stroke, Howlett was in the seven seat, McIntosh sat in the six seat, Miranda was in the five seat, freshman Kenny Evans (McLean, VA/Bishop O'Connell) was in the four seat, sophomore Ian Briggs (Huntsville, AL/The Gow School [NY]) was in the three seat, Billings was in the three seat, and sophomore Brian Zohorsky (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. Hebron) was the bow.

Moylan served as coxswain of the Shoremen's "B" boat in the open eight. DiMarino sat stroke, Johnson was in the seven seat, Sproule was in the six seat, Christ was in the five seat, freshman Sean Haynie (Hampstead, MD/Calvert Hall) sat in the four seat, sophomore Andrew Wallhauser (Fair Haven, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven) sat in the three seat, Villa was in the two seat, and Stevens was the bow.

The Shoremen return to action Saturday at the Head of the Charles in Boston.
