Six WC Rowing Alums Return to Chestertown Sunday to Coach in Maryland High School Champs

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- No fewer than six Washington College rowing alumni will return to Chestertown as coaches on Sunday as the school hosts the Maryland State High School Rowing Championships for the first time.

Andrew Bright '07 (pictured at right; coach of DeMatha Catholic High School - Hyattsville), John Dolan '03 (Bryn Mawr School - Baltimore), Caroline Perry '10 (Notre Dame Prep - Baltimore), Carla Wiemers '09 (Academy of the Holy Cross - Kensington), and John Hill '73 and Andrew Newell '10 (Gunston Day School - Centreville), will all revisit the site of their collegiate rowing days - this time as coaches.

In all, 15 high school rowing programs from around the state will row on the Chester River Sunday. The other schools competing in the regatta are: Roland Park Country School (Baltimore), Institute of Notre Dame (Baltimore), Walter Johnson High School (Bethesda), Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School (Bethesda), Walt Whitman High School (Bethesda), Holton-Arms School (Bethesda), Montgomery Blair High School (Silver Spring), Elizabeth Seton High School (Bladensburg), St. Paul's School (Brooklandville), and St. Paul's School for Girls (Brooklandville). 

Racing begins at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.
