Hickey and Grieves Garner All-Centennial Conference Second Team Honors

Hickey Named to Second All-CC Team and Grieves Selected to First; Hulsey Named To All-Sportsmanship Team

LANCASTER, Pa. – Two Washington College players have been named to the All-Centennial Conference second team for men's lacrosse in a vote conducted by the conference's nine head coaches.  Senior defenseman Tim Hickey (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) and junior attackman Casey Grieves (Easton, Md./Sts. Peter & Paul) both earned spots on the all-conference's second team.  This is the second time Hickey has been selected All-Centennial as he earned honorable mention recognition in 2016, while Grieves was named all-conference for the first time.

Hickey finished second on the team with 38 ground balls and 20 caused turnovers in 15 games this season, all of which were starting assignments.  Through the Centennial Conference Tournament he is ninth in the Centennial in caused turnovers.  The two-time all-conference selection finishes his Shoremen career with 95 ground balls and 54 caused turnovers in 46 games, all starts.  In Centennial contests, his 12 caused turnovers were good for fifth.

Grieves, who was moved up to the attack from midfield this season responded with career-highs in goals (43), assists (20), points (63) and man-up goals (5) as he started in all 15 games for Washington this season.  A two-time Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week in 2018, he led the team in scores, points and man-up tallies, while finishing second in helpers.  Through the conference tournament, Grieves is tied for fifth in goals and man-up goals and seventh in points.  In conference-only games, he was fourth in both goals (23) and points (32).

In the eight years under head coach Jeff Shirk, the Shoremen have 13 all-conference first team selections, 12 all-conference second team picks and eight have gained honorable mention status.

Also announced by the conference was the All-Sportsmanship Team for men's lacrosse and representing the Shoremen on the team for the first time is senior defenseman Graham Hulsey (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley).  Each Centennial Conference member institution was permitted to nominate one student-athlete who exemplifies the best in sportsmanship for the All-Sportsmanship Team. Nominations were submitted by the head coaches.
