BALTIMORE, Md. — Inside Lacrosse's Face-Off Yearbook has released its annual NCAA Division III Preseason Top 25 and the Washington College men's lacrosse team checks in at No. 19 in the ranking.
The Shoremen posted a 6-10 overall record in 2015, but still managed a 5-3 mark in Centennial Conference play. They advanced to the Centennial Conference Tournament for the fourth straight year. Washington had made three consecutive NCAA Division III Tournament appearances prior to last spring, including an appearance in the 2014 NCAA Division III Semifinals.
Among the Shoremen's top returning scorers for 2016 will be sophomore attackmen Tyler Powers (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) and Tanner Barbieri (Wayne, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) as well as senior midfielder Sid Looney (Westhampton, N.Y./Westhampton). Powers scored 12 goals and assisted on 10 others last season, while Barbieri had 15 goals and four assists and Looney had 13 goals and six assists. Senior defenseman Brad Wollman (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg Country School) had a team-leading 20 caused turnovers, along with 23 ground balls, a year ago.
The Shoremen will open their 2016 schedule February 27th with a 1:00 p.m. game at long-time rival Washington and Lee.
