Powers Named to U.S. Junior Indoor Lacrosse Team

NEW YORK, N.Y. — Washington College sophomore Tyler Powers (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) has been named to the U.S. Junior Indoor Lacrosse Team which will compete in the 2015 U19 Indoor Lacrosse Challenge in Six Nations, Ontario, Canada this September.

The full team was announced by U.S. Indoor Lacrosse yesterday. The team is comprised of 27 players. The roster was narrowed down following three tryout weekends from January through March held in Baltimore, Boston, and Downingtown, Pa. The roster was further trimmed during the summer following each of the three training camps in Downingtown and three exhibition games.

Powers was one of nine transition players named to the team, the indoor equivalent of field lacrosse's midfielders. Powers had an impressive first season for the Shoremen last spring, chalking up 12 goals and 10 assists, the latter of which tied for the team lead. His 22 points were tied for second-most on the team, while his 36 ground balls were third-most on the team.

The U19 World Indoor Lacrosse Challenge will take place at Iroquois Lacrosse Arena September 11-13.
