CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The 10th-ranked Washington College men's lacrosse team has received an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Shoremen, who will host Colorado College in a first-round game Wednesday, will be making their 30th all-time NCAA Tournament appearance and second in as many years.
The Shoremen will carry a 12-4 record into Wednesday's game. Washington fell to unbeaten and second-ranked Dickinson in a Centennial Conference semifinal, 14-7, this past Wednesday. Colorado College, champion of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, carries a 13-4 record into this Wednesday's game against the Shoremen.
The winner of Wednesday's game between the Shoremen and Tigers will play the winner of Wednesday's first-round game between Stevenson University and Christopher Newport University.
Last year, the Shoremen lost to Goucher, 5-4, in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. That game was Washington's first tournament appearance since 2008. The Shoremen won the NCAA Division III National Championship in 1998.
Wednesday's game will start at 4:00 p.m. Admission prices are $5.00 for the general public, $2.00 for students with college I.D., and free for children 12 and under. No advance admission will be sold and no re-entry will be allowed once inside Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium.
