Olsen Tallies 17 Points, Nine Rebounds, Five Blocks in Loss
CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Wesley College scored 44 points in the paint and 19 second-chance points en route to an 86-72 non-conference men's basketball win over host Washington College tonight inside Cain Athletic Center.
Wesley (3-5) held a 38-31 halftime lead after forcing 14 Washington turnovers in the first half. The Wolverines led by at least 10 points for the last 16 minutes of the contest.
Chris Douglas paced Wesley with a game-high 23 points and four steals. Douglas was 7-for-11 from the field and 9-for-12 at the charity stripe. Darrell Johnson added 21 points and a game-best five steals, while Paul Reynolds scored 17 points and brought down eight rebounds. JJ Bryant finished with nine points and nine rebounds for Wesley.
Senior forward Chris Olsen (Ellicott City, MD/Mount St. Joseph) just missed a double-double for the Shoremen (5-4) with 17 points, nine rebounds, and a career-high five blocks. Senior guard Kevin Breslin (Hagerstown, MD/St. Maria Goretti) scored a team-high 19 points for Washington, while senior guard Sal Schittino (Ellicott City, MD/Loyola Blakefield) added 15 points.
Wesley held a 42-38 advantage on the boards and shot 32-of-41 at the free-throw line in the win.
The Shoremen return to action Tuesday with a 4:00 p.m. non-conference home game against Salisbury.
