Washington Runs Win Streak to Eight Games

CARLISLE, PA -- Visiting Washington College ran its win streak to eight games with a 4-0 Centennial Conference field hockey victory over host Dickinson this afternoon in Carlisle, PA.  The Shorewomen (9-4, 5-1 Centennial) recorded their first shutout of the season with the win.

The Shorewomen scored three goals in the first 19 minutes of the contest. Junior attack Gabby Tarbert (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) scored off an assist from junior midfielder Kristen Wille (Stevensville, MD/Kent Island) 8:27 into the game. Freshman attack Claire McAuliffe (Clarksville, MD/Glenelg Country School) followed with a goal lifted over Dickinson goalkeeper Katy Schlechtweg 2:45 later. Wille then netted a goal of her own with 16:02 to play in the first half.

Washington started the second half with a flurry, getting off nine shots in the first eight and one-half minutes of the period, the last of which found the back of the net to give the Shorewomen a 4-0 lead after leaving the stick of junior midfielder Hilary Manion (Trappe, PA/Archbishop Carroll) with 26:31 remaining in the game.

Washington held a 28-20 advantage in shots in the game. Sophomore goalkeeper Steph Harryman (Churchton, MD/Southern) recorded her first collegiate shutout by making 10 saves. Schlechtweg made 14 saves in the loss for the Red Devils (4-9, 1-6).

The Shorewomen have now scored at least four goals in each of their past four games, the longest such streak in team history. They have also scored at least three goals in each of their past six games, also a program-best streak.

Washington College returns to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Ursinus.
