Zwier Becomes First Shoreman to Earn First-Team Honors from D3Baseball.com
CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Washington College baseball student-athletes Ryan Zwier (Newark, Del./Christ School) and Aaron Barclay (Crofton, Md./Archbishop Spalding) have been named All-Mid-Atlantic Region by D3Baseball.com. Zwier became the first Shoreman to ever be named to the web site's All-Region first team, while Barclay became the first to be named to the web site's second team.
Zwier, who will be a senior in the fall, was named to the All-Centennial Conference first team last month and was named Academic All-Centennial by virtue of also qualifying for the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll, tied the single-season school record for home runs with eight and also led the team in hits (53), triples (five), RBI (40), walks (21), and slugging (.671). He was second on the team in on-base percentage (.469) and runs (38), tied for second in doubles (nine), and was third in batting average (.371). He started and played in 39 of the Shoremen's 40 games.
Barclay, who completed his senior season this spring, was also named to the All-Centennial Conference first team last month. He hit .349 and was the only Shoreman to start all 40 games this season. He led the team in doubles (11), finished second on the team in RBI (38), hits (51), and home runs (five), finished third in runs (33), walks (18), and slugging (.527), and tied for third on the team in stolen bases (seven).
