Shoremen Improve to 14-0 with 6-2 Win Over Chargers

Shoremen Score Five Runs in Bottom of the Eighth in Win

CHESTERTOWN, Md. — The host Washington College baseball team scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to rally for a 6-2 non-conference win over visiting Lancaster Bible this afternoon at Athey Park. The Shoremen remained undefeated at 14-0 with the win in their first home game of the season.

Washington College 6, Lancaster Bible 2

How It Happened
- The Chargers got on the board in the top of the first thanks to a one-out sacrifice fly by Will Welsh. Washington countered in the bottom of the frame with a one-out sac fly of its own, this off the bat of Dylan Nepert.
- Ben Ruvo made an outstanding diving play for the second out in the top of the sixth, running from right center to left center and making a diving play to his right to rob Welsh of a base hit.
- Neither team scored again until Welsh walked with the bases loaded in the top of the eighth to put the Chargers in front, 2-1.
- The Shoremen rallied in the bottom of the eighth, scoring two runs on a pinch-hit double by Chris Kramedas, following a pinch-hit double by Luke D'Ostilio. Kramedas then scored on a Jack Kingman single. CJ Gillmer later drove in the Shoremen's fifth run with a single and came across the plate to score their sixth on an error.
- Nick Brauer allowed a two-out walk in the top of the ninth, but struck out Josh Saufley swining to end the game.
