Shoremen Baseball Announces 2019 Captains

CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Washington College head coach Cory Beddick has announced that senior infielder Luke D'Ostilio (Hamden, Conn./Hamden), senior pitcher Dom Giandonato (Mullica Hill, N.J./Haddon Heights), sophomore infielder CJ Gillmer (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East), and junior catcher Dylan Nepert (Federalsburg, Md./Colonel Richardson) will serve as the team's captains for the 2019 season.

D'Ostilio, who also served as a captain last season, was named to the 2018 All-Centennial Conference first team and was the Shoremen's representative on the 2018 Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team. He led the Shoremen in hitting last year with a .356 average and was second in in both on-base percentage (.431) and slugging (.522). He also scored 16 runs and drove in 22 last season. For his career, he has 104 hits, 67 runs scored, and 55 RBI in exactly 100 career games played for the Shoremen.

Giandonato went 2-1 in a career-high 10 relief appearances for the Shoremen last spring. He has 14 career pitching appearances to his credit and has struck out 10 batters in 13.2 innings pitched. 

Gillmer had an impressive freshman season for the Shoremen in 2018, hitting .337 with 22 runs scored, 15 RBI, and eight stolen bases in 32 games played.

Nepert is in his first year with the Shoremen. Last season, at Chesapeake College, he hit .348 with nine home runs, 32 RBI, and 28 runs scored. 

The Shoremen went 24-16 last season in Beddick's first year at the helm. Their 24 wins represented the third-highest win total in team history. They are scheduled to open their 2019 season February 23rd and 24th with three games at Gallaudet's Bison Baseball Classic.
