FAIRBANKS, Alaska — The latest D3Baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Top 25 has been released and the Washington College baseball team appears in the "others receiving votes" category. The Shoremen received eight vote-points in the poll.
The Shoremen are off to a 15-4 start this season (15-3 at the time the votes were due) in head coach Cory Beddick's first season at the helm. The 15 wins equals the Shoremen's win total from all of last season.
With 15 wins in his first 19 games, Beddick has already equaled the best 20-game start for a Washington College head baseball coach in program history - a history which dates back to at least 1871. Matt Reynolds started his tenure 15-5 in 2015 and former player-coach Al Burris, who pitched one game in the Major Leagues, went 15-5 in his first 20 games as head coach from 1892 to 1894. A win today at Wesley would give Beddick sole possession of that honor.
