Baquer Named Centennial Conference Player of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. — Washington College senior outfielder Bryan Baquer (Woodbridge, Va./Osbourn Park) has been named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week for baseball for the week ending April 24th. Baquer hit .478 and slugged 1.000 as the Shoremen went 6-0 last week, including three 10-inning wins.

Baquer went 11-for-23 at the plate with five runs scored, two doubles, two triples, two home runs, eight RBI, six walks, and a pair of stolen bases on the week. His on-base percentage was .581 and he had multiple hits in five of the Shoremen's six games.

On Tuesday, his walk-off triple in the bottom of the tenth gave the Shoremen a 7-6 win over Franklin & Marshall. On Saturday, he homered in both ends of a double-header sweep of Haverford. On Sunday, his RBI single in the top of the ninth tied the opening game of a double-header at Ursinus, 6-6, which the Shoremen would eventually win, 7-6, in 10 innings. Later that same day, his RBI single in the top of the eighth knotted the second game at Ursinus, 3-3, which the Shoremen went on to win, 6-3, in 10 innings. 

This is the second time in Baquer's career he has been named Centennial Conference Player of the Week; the first was on April 8th, 2013.
