Baquer Totals Two Hits For Washington
SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Host Swarthmore recorded a 10-1 victory over visiting Washington College at Clothier Field in a Centennial Conference baseball game on Friday afternoon.

How It Happened
-In the top of the second inning, the Shoremen took advantage of a dropped foul ball to take a 1-0 lead. With one out, Charlie Meder hit an RBI groundout to second base to plate Evan Hirschbaum for the game's first run. Hirschbaum hit a double after the dropped foul ball during his at bat.
-The host Garnet scored three two-out runs in the bottom of the second to take a 3-1 lead. Jackson Roberts scored from third after a failed pickoff attempt of Steven Matos-Torres at first base. Charles Levitt would give Swarthmore the lead on a two-run single to right to plate both Matos-Torres and Conor Elliott.
-Swarthmore scored another two-out run in the bottom of the third when Nico Aldaco singled to center to plate Roy Walker to push the hosts lead to 4-1.
-The Garnet scored four times in the last of the fifth to take an 8-1 lead. Levitt led off the frame with a walk and would come around to score on a RBI double by Ryan Burnett to give the hosts a four-run lead. Burnett would touch home courtesy of a failed picked off at first base of Wesley Fishburn to make it 6-1. Aldaco capped the four-run outburst with a base hit up the middle to score both Walker and Fishburn.
-In the last of the sixth, Swarthmore tacked on a pair of runs to extend the lead to 10-1.
For The Shoremen (17-6-1, 1-3 CC)
-Hitting: Bryan Baquer (2-for-4)
-Pitching: Dan Jarrell (loss 3-2, three innings, four hits, four runs, four earned, three walks, one strikeout)
-Washington had five hits, worked out two walks and had two hitters reach via hit by pitch while leaving four on base.
-The Shoremen committed three errors in the loss, leading to one Swarthmore run.
For Swarthmore (18-10, 2-4 CC)
-Hitting: Aldaco (3-for-4, three RBI), Elliott (2-for-4, two runs), Levitt (two runs and two RBI), Fishburn (two hits), Walker (two runs)
-Pitching: Nathan Booth (win 5-3, six innings, three hits, one unearned run, one walk, four strikeouts)
-The Garnet had 12 hits in the win, drew four walks and had a batter reach via hit by pitch while stranding six on base.
-Swarthmore's one error led to Washington's run.
-Baquer is currently on a seven-game hitting six with two or more hits in six of the seven. He is now fourth all-time in career hits at WC with 165, trailing Nick Marinell '14 who had 167. On Wednesday versus Swarthmore, he passed John Rolewicz '12 who totaled 162 all-time hits. Baquer has 10 multi-hit games this season.
