#12 Sea Gulls Handle Shoremen, 7-0

SALISBURY, Md. – Visiting #12 Salisbury got a complete game four-hit shutout by Connor Shockley on its way to a 7-0 victory over host Washington College in a non-conference baseball game on Tuesday afternoon at Athey Baseball Park.  The Sea Gulls improve to 15-6 on the year, while the Shoremen drop to 16-3-1.

How It Happened
-In the top of the fourth inning, Salisbury broke onto the scoreboard with a pair of unearned runs with nobody out.  Jake Dmiterchik scored on a dropped ball in the field of play to make it 1-0 and Pete Grasso scored on a fielding error to give the guests a two-run lead.
-The Sea Gulls scored two more runs in the top half of the fifth to take a 4-0 lead.  Kyle Goodwin scored on a sacrifice fly with one away off the bat of Dmiterchik to make it 3-0 and with two away, Tom LaBriola came home on a throwing error to give the guests a four-run advantage.
-Salisbury pushed its lead to 5-0 on a one out sac fly with the bases loaded off the bat of Alex Lipman that scored Jack Barry.
-LaBriola rounded out the scoring in the top of the eighth when he delivered a two-run single to left field to score Goodwin and Lipman with two outs in the frame.

For The Shoremen (16-3-1)
-Hitting: Aaron Barclay (1-for-3, walk), Matt Tancredi (two walks)
-Pitching: Brian Kasey (loss 0-1, seven innings, 10 hits, five runs, two earned, two walks, five strikeouts)
-The Shoremen were held to four hits in the contest, while drawing four walks.
-WC left six on base in the game and did not get a runner past second base in the game.
-Washington committed four errors in the field and it led to three unearned runs for Salisbury. 

For #12 Salisbury (15-6)
-Hitting: Grasso (3-for-5, run), LaBriola (2-for-5, two RBI), Dmiterchik (2-for-4, RBI), Goodwin (two runs)
-Pitching: Shockley (win 2-0, complete game four-hit shutout, four walks, seven strikeouts)
-The Sea Gulls had 11 hits in the win, worked out three walks and had two players reach via hit by pitch.
-Salisbury left nine on base.
-In the field, the Sea Gulls turned two double plays and did not commit an error.

-The Shoremen received five vote-points in the d3baseball.com poll and one vote-point in the ABCA Division III poll this week.
-Washington was blanked for the first time this season.
-The 16-3-1 mark is the team's second best start after 20 games in the history of the program.  The 2012 squad started the season 17-3.
