Tancredi Goes 3-for-4, Scores Twice and Plates a Pair
CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College got a 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI performance from sophomore Matt Tancredi (Wall, N.J./Wall) in a 7-4 victory over visiting Bard on Friday afternoon at Athey Baseball Park.

How It Happened
-Two batters into the game, JP Fisher launched a home run over the right field fence to give the Raptors a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
-The Shoremen answered in the bottom of the second when Aaron Barclay scored on a throwing error by Bard to tie the game at 1-1.
-In the last of the fourth, Tancredi singled up the middle to lead off the frame and the next hitter, Charlie Meder socked a two-run home run down the right field line to put WC ahead 3-1.
-Matt Lasky would score on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Nick Kifyak with one away in the top of the fifth to cut the Washington lead to 3-2.
-In the bottom half of the fifth, Tancredi began the Shoremen's three-run outburst with a double down the left field line to score Evan Hirschbaum with nobody out to make it 4-2. The next hitter, Meder laid down a safety squeeze bunt to score Barclay to make it 5-2 and with one away, Tancredi came home on a base hit up the middle off the bat of Wes Robertson to push the lead to 6-2.
-Washington made it 7-2 with two outs in the last of the sixth on a base hit to right by Tancredi to plated Hirschbaum.
-Bard's Alec Montecalvo cut the Shoremen's lead to 7-4 when he ripped a two-run single up the middle to chase in both Fisher and Adam Carafotes with nobody out to provide the final margin.
For The Shoremen (14-2-1)
-Hitting: Tancredi (3-for-4, two RBI, two runs), Hirschbaum (2-for-5, two runs), Meder (three RBI, home run), Barclay (two runs)
-Pitching: Dan Jarrell (win 3-0, 6 2/3 innings, three hits, two runs, one earned, two walks, five strikeouts), Nick Roberti (2 1/3 innings, three hits, two runs, two earned, one strikeout)
-Washington had 12 hits in the win and had three players reach on hit by pitches.
-The Shoremen had two errors in the game and led to one unearned run for Bard.
-The hosts left 10 men on base in the game.
For Bard (5-7)
-Hitting: Fisher (2-for-4, two runs), Montecalvo (two RBI)
-Pitching: Steve Marotta (loss 1-2, four-plus innings, seven hits, six runs, four earned, two strikeouts)
-The Raptors' pitchers did not walk a Washington hitter in the game.
-Bard had six hits in the game and worked out a pair of walks.
-The Raptors had two errors in the field and led to two WC runs.
-Bard left five on base in the contest.
-First-ever meeting between the two schools.
-The Shoremen surpassed the 2015 run total in the win. Washington has now scored 153 runs on the season in just 17 games for an average of nine per game. The team passed last year's total when Barclay scored in the bottom of the fifth for the squad's 151st run of the year. The 2015 team scored 150 runs in 33 games.
-Second team the Shoremen have played from New York's Hudson Valley Region. WC played New Paltz on February 27.
