LANCASTER, Pa. – Junior outfielder Scott Matthews (Goshen, N.Y./Don Bosco Prep (N.J.) has been selected the Centennial Conference Baseball Player of the Week for the week of March 24-30 as announced by the conference office.
Matthews helped the Shoremen go 2-0 this past week with a .571 batting average (4-for-7) and an OPS (On Base Plus Slugging) of 1.986. He scored six runs, hit a home run and drove in a pair of runs for the club. His five runs scored at Muhlenberg on Saturday in a 12-7 win were the most runs in a game by a Washington player in eight years.
This is the first time Matthews has won the player of the week award this season and the second time in his career. He was selected as the player of the week for the first time in his career on April 2, 2012.
