Earns Spot On The Third Team
FAIRBANKS, AK – Senior shortstop Ryan Normoyle (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape), the 2012 Centennial Conference Baseball Player of the Year and First Team pick, was named to the D3Baseball.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region third team. This is the first time that Normoyle has earned all-region honors from D3Baseball.com.
Normoyle led the team in batting (.403), runs (46), hits (60), doubles (16), triples (6), home runs (3), total bases (97), slugging (.651), on-base percentage (.471), stolen bases (40) and assists (105). He tied for the team lead in RBI (38) and tied for second in walks (21). In the Centennial, he was first in stolen bases, total bases and triples, tied for second in runs scored, third in slugging, tied for third in hits, fourth in doubles, sixth in batting, seventh in assists and on-base percentage and tied for seventh in RBI. Normoyle, who batted .400 for the first time, finished his career with 208 hits as he is one of the five in the conference's history to reach that milestone and the only player from other than Johns Hopkins to achieve the feat. The senior also became just the second CC player to steal 40 bases in a season, joining Muhlenberg's Justin Graf who swiped 41 in 2003. He is Washington's all-time leader in 14 different career categories and is either tied or holds the mark in nine single-season categories.
Normoyle is a three-time All-Centennial Conference selection as he earned second team honors in 2010 and 2011 and first team honors this spring.
