One of Eight Hitters To Garner Honorable Mention Stat From Across The Country
NEWBERG, OR – Washington College baseball senior shortstop Ryan Normoyle (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) garnered honorable mention status in the hitters' category from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) for Division III for the week of March 12-18. He was earned the status from a panel of Division III members of the NCBWA.
Normoyle hit .600, slugged 1.200 and broke the school records for career stolen bases and career RBI as the Shoremen went 6-0 last week to run their win streak to 11 games as of March 17. Normoyle went 12-for-20 at the plate with three doubles, three triples, a home run, eight runs scored, nine RBI, four walks, and seven stolen bases in the half-dozen games. Normoyle went 4-for-4 with a career-best seven RBI, two runs scored, a home run and a triple in a 12-1 win over Anna Maria on March 12. He went 2-for-4 with a pair of stolen bases in a 3-1 win over UMass Boston on March 15. The senior went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two doubles in an 11-10 come-from-behind win over Hamilton on March 16. In the team's 28-1 win over Curry, the senior set a career-best in total bases with nine. Normoyle now holds the school career records for hits (176), doubles (44), RBI (119), total bases (282), and stolen bases (75).
Washington (13-2) returns to the field on Sunday in a doubleheader against visiting Maine-Presque Isle. First pitch of the twinbill is slated for 12:00 p.m.
