4, 2007 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Freshman Lauren Feeny (Upper Darby, PA/Villa Maria Academy) paced the Shorewomen with 18 kills as Washington College downed Delmarva rival Wesley College, 3-0, (30-17, 30-15, 30-17) on Tuesday evening at the Cain Athletic Center. The Shorewomen are now 2-0 for the first time since 2004, while the Wolverines drop to 0-3. Feeny hit .556 in the match and had as many kills as Wesley's entire team did. The Shorewomen had 45 kills and hit .309 overall in the three-game sweep. Washington senior outside hitter Katherine O'Brien (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) tallied 13 kills, while sophomore setter Caitlin Ward (Wantagh, NY/Holy Trinity) dished out 40 assists. Ward and junior Arielle Brown (Merion, PA/Lower Merion) had a team-best seven digs. Junior outside hitter Chelsea Crum (Newark, DE/Charter School of Wilmington), Feeny and O'Brien each tallied a match-high three service aces. For the Wolverines, Lori Voorhees led the squad with eight kills, while Lilia Lopez-Brekke had a match-best nine digs. Sonila Doda passed out nine assists in the contest. Washington College travels to Gettysburg Battlefield Classic this Friday. The Shorewomen take on Scranton at 3 p.m. and Trinity (CT) at 7 p.m.. |
