Eagles Best Shorewomen in Four Games
O'Brien Totals 19 Kills, 13 Digs

FREDERICKSBURG, VA -- Host University of Mary Washington won the first two games of the match and ended the fourth game on an 11-1 run to best visiting Washington College, 30-17, 30-21, 23-30, 30-24, in a non-conference volleyball match tonight in Fredericksburg, VA. The Eagles improved to 9-7 with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 5-7 with the loss.

The Eagles controlled both of the first two games before the Washington offense came alive in the third game, pounding down 16 kills. The Shorewomen held a 23-19 lead in game four, before Mary Washington went on its run to close out the match.

Junior outside hitter Kelley Hueber had 16 kills and 15 digs and sophomore outside hitter Anne Lutkenhaus added 15 kills and 17 digs for Mary Washington. Sophomore setter Lindsey Scott dished out 36 assists and recorded 14 digs.

Washington senior outside hitter Katherine O'Brien (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) pounded down a match-high 19 kills, including 10 in the third game alone, and scooped out 13 digs. Freshman outside hitter Lauren Feeny (Upper Darby, PA/Villa Maria Academy) added 13 kills for the Shorewomen, while junior libero Arielle Brown (Merion, PA/Lower Merion) finished with a match-high 18 digs. Sophomore setter Caitlin Ward (Wantagh, NY/Holy Trinity) tallied 31 assists, while junior outside hitter Chelsea Crum (Newark, DE/Charter School of Wilmington) served five aces.

The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference match at Swarthmore.
