Garnet Down Shorewomen, 3-0
O'Brien and Ward Record Double-Doubles In Loss

SWARTHMORE, PA -- Jen Wang had a double-double with a match-high 11 kills along with 12 digs as Swarthmore downed visiting Washington College, 3-0 (30-22, 30-27, 30-20), in Centennial Conference volleyball action on Wednesday evening at Tarble Pavilion.

Swarthmore (6-11, 1-1 CC) got a match-best 22 digs and three service aces from Erin Heaney, while Monica Joshi added 11 digs. Johanna Bond and Katherine Gold each chipped in with 10 kills. Kearney Bangs dished out 46 assists in the victory for the Garnet.

Senior outside hitter Katherine O'Brien (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) and sophomore setter Caitlin Ward (Wantagh, NY/Holy Trinity) each tallied double-doubles in the contest. O'Brien finished with 12 digs and 10 kills, while Ward had 27 assists and 12 digs. Junior libero Arielle Brown (Merion, PA/Lower Merion) had a team-best 21 digs, while freshman outside hitter Lauren Feeny (Upper Darby, PA/Villa Maria Academy) had 10 kills.

Washington College (5-8, 0-3 CC) returns to action tomorrow night against visting Goucher for a 7 p.m. non-conference contest.
