2007 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Katie Seibel led McDaniel with 14 kills as the Green Terror downed host Washington College, 3-0 (30-18, 30-19, 30-18), in Centennial Conference volleyball action on Saturday afternoon at the Cain Athletic Center. The Green Terror improve to 15-6 overall and 8-0 in the conference, while the Shorewomen drop to 9-14 and 1-7 respectively. In the opening game, McDaniel led 21-16 before rolling off nine of the final 11 points to win the game, 30-18. In game two, the Green Terror won 13 of the first 18 points en route to a 30-19 win. In the final game, the Shorewomen jumped out to a 14-10 lead before the Green Terror would win six of the next eight points to tie it at 16-16. McDaniel would win 14 of the last 16 points to sweep the match, 30-18. For McDaniel, Kristen Nuckles had match-highs of 34 assists and three services aces in the victory, while Kristie Fourcade dished out 12 assists. Alice Hardwick led all players with 16 digs, while Taylor Herrgott and Lanni Reisinger had 10 kills each. The Green Terror had 54 kills in the match to just nine errors for a hitting percentage of .433. Washington sophomore setter Caitlin Ward (Wantagh, NY/Holy Trinity) handed out 30 assists and set the school's single-season record for assists on her 12th assist of the match in game two on a kill by senior outside hitter Katherine O'Brien (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park). She now has 861 assists on the season. O'Brien led all players with 15 kills in the match. Junior libero Arielle Brown (Merion, PA /Lower Merion) registered 12 digs to lead the Shorewomen. Washington returns to action on Wednesday, October 24, hosting Bryn Mawr for a 7 p.m. conference match. It will be the home finale for the Shorewomen. |
